Some frequently asked questions about Kinesiology training

Q I'm interested in learning about kinesiology. With so many different courses on offer how do I choose which one is right for me?
A There are a number of options. Please read below to find the most appropriate for you.

You could also read
Principles of Kinesiology by Maggie la Tourelle with Anthea Courtenay.
Q I am a therapist or student therapist and would like to use kinesiology as an adjunct to my therapy. What do I need to do?
A You could attend a:

2 day workshop "Muscle Testing for Therapists" for energy and psychological therapists

free evening talk or a 1 day workshop "Introduction to Kinesiology" open to everyone.

Foundation Kinesiology Practitioner (FKP) 8 or 12 day course and gain a certificate in foundation kinesiology. The FKP course provides a practitioner level of training from day 1 unlike many other foundation courses.

Q I want to become a professional kinesiologist. What do I need to do?
A First you need to do a foundation kinesiology course then a diploma or advanced kinesiology course. There are many schools offering diplomas in many different kinds of kinesiology. Most schools specialise in diploma training and integrate the foundation course with it.

Unlike the schools specialising in diploma and advanced training, IKPT specialises in foundation training and is independent. The IKPT foundation certificate qualifies you to join any diploma or advanced course at diploma level. Doing an independent foundation course gives you more choice. You can discover your strengths and preferences before committing to a specialised kinesiology training.

Q I am a lay person and want to use kinesiology for myself, family and friends. What should I do?
A You could attend the "Introduction to Kinesiology"1 day workshop, or do a foundation course or a Touch For Health workshop. The foundation course teaches lots of simple self-help techniques. Many people start with this intention and get so interested they decide they want to go further. IKPT offers an excellent foundation for self-help or further training.
